I thought I'd share with you some of the beautiful turreted homes that I saw on my walk today.

This next one isn't really turreted, but it has a beautiful rounded porch that reminds me of a turret. This house is currently being renovated. It's going to be a big job, but I love watching their progress.

  1. I don't get downtown often enough and I forget how pretty it is. When we moved to Belleville three years ago, we planned to live in your neighborhood. The lure of a really good school brought us to the west end. Which we love. It has its own history, although not quite as old. My neighborhood's heyday was in the 1920s.

No bigger than Belleville is, I love that we have so many distinct neighborhoods, and a foundation to maintain instead of tear down and rebuild.

  2. I agree with you Robin, it’s so nice to see that there they preserved the houses instead of changing for modernization. It is always so nice to go back from the past and see some evidence of history. It sometimes feels like you were there at their time with “Turret” as their defense during military fortification. But now it is adopted as decorative purpose such as these houses and called Gothic revival architecture. It feels like living in medieval period. I wish I could also walk around our neighborhood and see the beautiful architecture of the homes in Broken Arrows.

It’s been long since I’ve gone from home and now missing the old times with family and friends. The only thing that I can call my “Turret” is our house in Tulsa which keeps our family safe and happy under one roof. Despite of architecture, I guess we all have our own “Turret”. What’s yours?
